Biography: Jérôme Schoenmaeckers received his PhD in Economics and Management in October 2018. His research during his PhD thesis focused on the issue of long-term care, i.e. the care of dependent elderly people, by studying the role of the three main actors and their interactions: the family, the state and the market. After defending his thesis, he was hired as a professor at the Haute Ecole de la Ville de Liège to teach general economics, public finance and Belgian taxation. Recruited at CIRIEC (International Center for Research and Information on the Public, Social and Cooperative Economy) in 2019, his research interests are evolving and are no longer limited to the public economy. The scope of his publications is expanding (Journal of Population Economics, Journal of Risk and Insurance, The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance - Issues and Practice, Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics) and his goal is to start research collaborations in didactics with the idea of quantitative measurement of potential learning deltas related to specific pedagogical practices. Indeed, he has been a guest lecturer at HEC-Liège since the end of his thesis, and has just obtained a part-time teaching position as a didactician in economics and management. In addition to the special didactic courses, he teaches the Master Thesis Methodology course in the 2nd master's program as well as, exceptionally this year, the Macroeconomics course in the 2nd bachelor's program.
